Parents' Association News - May 2008
Notes from the April 7 Meeting
Fund Raiser – Uno Chicago Grill was contacted but the fund raising program ended in April and no dates were available. Friendly’s may do it (Sumner Ave.) but they may have a 100 person minimum.
Red Rose was also suggested.
Dues – Statements regarding dues are sent out in the packet at the beginning of the school year. Dues are also collected at book sales. Dues are not mandatory. This year we received $280.00 in dues. Students in the Ames Hill program get a different packet. Could there be a reminder sent? The problem is it is difficult to know who pays in some circumstances because of how the money moves through the system. Maybe there is the possibility of sending a reminder email. We also don’t want to be collecting money at every event.
Baking – Thanks to all the parents who donated items to the teachers for Teacher Appreciation day. We also need snacks to sell at the play. Proceeds from these sales goes to the art department. The snacks left over from the Booster Club Winter Sports sales will be donated to the play. Maybe an email could be sent through the school asking parents to bake.
Volunteers – We are looking for volunteers to call parents of children who come to the Open House. We are also looking for a new secretary.
Senior Gifts – Could a letter be sent notifying senior parents that they give a gift to the school as well as a gift from the seniors? The seniors have decided to buy something in honor of their class. There were many choices but their final decision was seats in the auditorium. The gift committee is meeting at a later date to continue working on this.
