Boarding Admissions
Leaving home, making new friends, and taking classes spoken in English – all of it may seem overwhelming. But here at MacDuffie we try to make you feel at home right away.
Upon arrival on campus, you are directed to your new campus home. It will not look like a dorm because it isn’t. It is a home. And here you will live with your House Parent(s) and other students like you – some may be American, but most are other international students. Within days, this group of people will feel like a family and then, with the addition of other boarding and day students, an even larger family – a community. Throughout the student orientation days you will meet new and returning boarding students, local day students, and adults who will help to guide you through the opening days of school. It won’t be long before you feel a connection to MacDuffie and a sense of belonging in your new American home. This connection may last the rest of your life.
If this description fits what you are looking for, we welcome you to apply to MacDuffie as a boarding student. The application process is the same for all students (see Admissions) and includes both testing and an interview. American boarding students are required to provide recent SSAT test scores; international boarding students must provide one or more of the following: recent SSAT, SLEP or TOEFL scores. Interviews are required and may be in person or by telephone if the distance is too great. Interviews are by appointment and are arranged by contacting me at sclayton@macduffie.com.
