MacDuffie Voices - Tapping With MacKenzie!
When not choreographing for the Tap Club, MacKenzie is busy working on other MacDuffie productions. She managed costume design for two fall plays, including last year’s thrilling murder-mystery, The MouseTrap. She choreographs our musicals and is busy working on the upcoming staging of this spring’s Oklahoma! MacKenzie also sings, performing in various MacDuffie musicals, and is a member of The MacDuffie Singers. She put her interest in the arts to good use last summer while working as an intern at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, CT, helping with their costume rental business. “The arts here have given me a lot of opportunities,” MacKenzie explains. “I’ve learned a lot from Ms. Stone and Ms. Boutin.” But MacKenzie doesn’t limit herself to the arts. She is a member of the Varsity Field Hockey team and won the Players’ Award last season. As a Student Admissions Representative (STAR), she helps prospective students learn about the School. Through a program run by her church, the United Church of Christ in Longmeadow, MacKenzie tutors three refugee children from the Ivory Coast every Saturday, helping them with their homework and MCAS practice. The Springfield Republican newspaper recently named MacKenzie as their “Student of Character” and we couldn’t agree more!
