Spring Dance Concert

On Friday, May 16, at 7:00 p.m., the MacDuffie Dancers will present their Spring Dance concert Environment/Environments. This semester, the students were challenged with the concept of creating dances inspired by environmental issues or dances which create environments on stage.

Choreographers will be presenting original works. Sophie Anastasio will create an environment on stage by use of textiles. Sophomore Patrick deHahn has created a trio set to John Mayer’s “Waiting on the World to Change.” This piece explores the concepts of trash and land fills. Yvonne Liu has been working with many of the Ames Hill students on a hip-hop dance about birds on the verge of extinction. Senior Richard Quigley has also been working with the concept of extinction, and will present an interesting modern dance titled Dies Irae. Jonathan Delgado has been very busy working on three dances for this show: two are about environmental issues and one “creates” an environment. Katie Adler has created an abstract modern dance solo, which utilizes boxes and shadows. Senior MacKenzie Halpin continues to push the limits of what tap dance can do in a very rhythmic dance about rain which will be presented with the Tap Club. Other student choreographers include Meghan Cote, Mallory Kakely, and Jordie Ho-Shue.

Over 35 dancers will be participating in this event. We would love to see you there!
